Welcome to the Enthusiasm-Awakeners’ challenge, 90-days-for-90-Years [story].

Here is some background info about the materials posted on this site for the project.

General info: You should be able to see the scores/sheetmusic right on your device (phone/computer) and you should not have to do any additional work to do the project. I know it is not ideal to have a computer/phone present for these devotional offerings but …

Notes about the numbering of these songs and the sound-quality of recordings.

“E.A.” indicates “Enthusiasm-Awakeners” — a singing group which was formed in December 1999 and focused on learning Sri Chinmoy English-language songs.

Notes about ‘mismatching’ numbers. Let me try and explain why the E.A.# and the number on the image do not match.

  • The numbers “E.A.#_” on the material pages indicate the order that the Enthusiasm-Awakeners learned the songs. These are mostly (but not completely) in the chronological order that Sri Chinmoy composed the songs.
  • The numbers on the images are the published Songbook numbers. While I could crop these to help you avoid confusion, I think it is more important to retain them for other reasons.
  • Because the E.A. numbering system is well-established in my files, I am following these numbers to avoid my own confusion.
    • I truly hope it is not too confusing for you! Just ‘trust the system’ and in a few days you will hopefully get used to this 🙂
  • Regarding the number of songs a day: the average will be 17-songs — but there will be days when this number will fluctuate due to pairings of songs and/or due to total length of time (i.e. most songs are short but when there are long songs, I may reduce the number for that day). 17 is not specifically significant, it is just an average number to accomplish 1529 songs in 90 days.

Recordings: these are only for learning purposes. Many were recorded on an old, portable cassette tape and have some distortion (in some cases, a lot of distortion!). For those of you who are good singers/musicians — you can just ignore the recordings.

Songs in this 90-Day for 90-Year song project can be searched via these methods (also see links to other websites above)

Source files: The majority of these sets of songs are published in the Enthusiasm Songbooks, by Sri Chinmoy. Some are published in the God-Devotion-Teardrop (see at end of the following list). Others are in various songbooks, you can search on srichinmoysongs.com or srichinmoylibrary.com for these.

  • Sri Chinmoy composed over 23,000 songs in his lifetime (1931-2007) — primarily in the Bengali language (see here for more info).  So the songs in these sets represents only a tiny, tiny portion of that vast collection
